Plainview Puffs Bakery - Cause of the Month
Hi, we’re Amanda and Stefanie! We’re just your hard-working, pastry-loving, Jewish sister pastry chefs from Long Island, New York. Here’s our story: Prior to founding Plainview Puffs, I (Amanda) worked as an Executive Pastry Chef under New York City’s bright lights for over a decade. I put my skills to the fire for some of the world’s best chefs and companies’ executive dining rooms. Despite the successes I had there, I still felt unfulfilled. I ended up leaving that life to launch a custom cake pop and cupcake business. While the company was just taking off, the global COVID-19 pandemic caused us to shut down. During the summer of 2020, our nation’s soul bore witness to the largest civil rights movement protests in recent American history, sparked by the unjust deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and other victims of police brutality. Unfortunately, my grade-school daughter witnessed the video of the police officer who caused Mr. Floyd’s demise. Shaken, she asked me what I was doing to solve and help the people like George, who were abused by police brutality. While I have always considered myself someone who cared about people and treated everyone equally, the protests magnified the systemic racism ingrained in our country and how I was a benefactor of such privilege. I took this time to consider what true allyship meant while acknowledging the depth of injustices people of color were facing daily. At this moment, I realized that I wanted to help address these challenging problems through the only way I knew how — baking. And thus, Plainview Puffs was born. Plainview Puffs got involved with a worldwide collaboration of bakers in virtual bake sales centered around the hashtag, #BakersAgainstRacism. We took presales for our cream puffs over four days and had pickup/delivery windows that Friday/Saturday. The sales’ success was surprising and exciting, and we were able to donate over $500 to a local New York-based organization. Plainview Puff’s mission is to support and raise awareness of nonprofit organizations performing quality social justice work through our yummy cream puffs. If you’re craving something deliciously sweet and want to give back at the same time, then Plainview Puffs is the place for you. Our cream puffs come in various flavors to hit your spot. Not to mention, by shopping with us, you get to feel good and take part in our automatic 10% monthly giveback to charity. Now that’s something to feel good about. 71 Milbar Blvd, Farmingdale, NY 11735 Free Local Deliveries on Fridays Pick Up Fridays Only: 12 PM - 3 PM
